§6.5.2, A top-down example. The last two trees show I helped you, but the text is building a tree for I had my breakfast. The corrected trees:

Tree for I had, step five: Clause branches to Subj:NP and Head:VP. The NP has Head:N-pro I; the VP has Head:V had on a branch sloping left.
Second-to-last step
Tree for I had my breakfast: Clause branches to Subj:NP (Head:N-pro I) and Head:VP. The VP has Head:V had and Obj:NP. The object NP has Det:NP, whose Head:N-pro is my, and Head:N breakfast.

§6.5.2, last paragraph before the final tree: “with its Det:DP my” ⇒ “with its Det:NP my”. My is a pronoun, so it heads an NP (see §3.5, Noun phrases as determiners).
